Kinesiology is based in the work of Chiropractor Dr. George Goodhart, founder of Applied Kinesiology used exclusively by chiropractors.
Dr Goodhart discovered ways to balance muscles of the body using a combination of techniques involving reflexes to drain or nourish a muscle and acupressure points to influence the flow of chi through the related meridian system. So he did three things to balance a muscle:
- By rubbing the Neurolymphatic reflexes he was draining the muscle.
- By touching the appropriate Neurovascular spot he was nourishing the muscle.
- By using the acupuncture system he was energising the muscle.
According to Kinesiology theory each muscle is influenced by a particular meridian of the acupuncture system, for example the Pectoralis Major Clavicular is reflexed to the stomach meridian. Dr John Thie selected a representative muscle from each meridian and tested them in order of their peak time of flow e.g. the stomach meridian is at its most active between 7a – 9a, the spleen 9-11a and the heart from 11a-1p. Thus he tested a muscle reflexed to the stomach, then a muscle reflexed to the spleen and then a muscle reflexed to the heart. By using this protocol the body is being tested in the sequence in which it is designed to function.
Dr Carl Ferreri, one of the original group of innovative chiropractors, took this concept of linking a great step further. In 1979 he released his approach to the subject which he called Neurological Organisation Technique. The basic premise is that the body will do anything it needs to do to survive, so he identified what was required for this to happen. He noted the reactive pattern, that is one muscle turning another one on in sequence. The basic survival patterns occur when we are eating, fighting, fleeing or reproducing. When you think of it, when we are doing one of these tasks we are not doing either of the other two, so we need to identify what program is running when we are working with people.
There are other reactive patterns that must be addressed for optimal well-being, particularly the connection between the ankles, the pelvis and the jaw. If these do not function properly in relation to each other, learning difficulties of some type are usually present. This also applies to being able to invert the big toes to the same degree. If they do not come in evenly, there is a gait disturbance, which must be corrected. A gait disturbance is the early warning sign of trouble.
As part of the overall corrections the person is checked to ensure the childhood reflexes, or Primitive reflexes have been integrated. If a Moro or Fear Response Reflex is still active then the body’s response to any stress or threat will be inappropriate.
We always use the body as its own indicator to tell us what type of correction the body needs. Before each correction is made, Kinesiologists check to see if a structural, nutritional, emotional or meridian system problem exists. Then the appropriate correction is performed.
The brain only lives on water and blood sugar and needs a constant supply of both. If a person is dehydrated or there is not sufficient blood sugar available, the brain cannot work properly. Paradoxically, the last state is usually reached by people having too much sugar and carbohydrates generally which causes an increased supply of insulin to be released which very quickly pushes a person into a low blood sugar state. The person really craves something sweet or a slice of bread and then the whole cycle starts again.
Another very important factor is the person’s gut flora balance in their large bowel. In nearly every case when a child returns for treatment and the left brain/right brain balance has regressed, that child is being treated for a bowel imbalance. The Enteric Nervous System is also checked, especially in relation to the large intestine, the Vagus Nerve and other organs of digestion. A person’s acid/alkaline balance needs to be checked and corrected. As the pH level strays from normal it becomes harder to absorb food and nutrients.
Other important areas of correction include: ensuring the eyes are balanced to the ears and that the eye muscles are balanced to the adrenal glands, balancing muscles of the mouth and applying N.O.Y. techniques to assist with speech problems.
Bernard will work with you to find the most effective and appropriate techniques to re-balance the basic switches, reflexes, muscles, organs and meridians of the body, assisting you to return to a state of optimal health and well-being.
We are not Medical Doctors. We do not diagnose or prescribe any medication or advise people to change any medication they may be taking. We work energetically to help the body to heal itself.
As part of his practice at CORE in Woonona Bernard has access to a comprehensive Naturopathic clinic, which provides a number of ‘base line’ tests. One specific test has become an intrinsic part of his treatment success, Biochemical Analysis test, testing the current digestive state and its ability to efficiently digest the nutrients it consumes. Bernard has found that this test is invaluable to maximise beneficial client outcomes.
We are offering Bernard’s clients this specific test at a special rate and if you would like this test or you require more information, please contact the clinic.
