Series 1 Autism Seminar Recap
How it all went…The first of a series of seminars on Autism Awareness took place last Friday evening in Corrimal.
Resident naturopath Darren Sassall, who specialises in Autism Spectrum disorders (as well as being the Illawarra’s Chapter leader for the MINDD Foundation) captivated the audience with his explanation of the Biomed Approach to Autism. Many people who attended found this incredibly informative. They expressed that it gave them much needed (and sought after) answers to some of the burning questions relating to overall behaviour of their autistic children resulting in poor dietary choices. Success stories of parents that have had their child’s ‘markers’ identified from base line tests in the clinic were told, as well as expression about the remarkable differences in speech and how quickly these changes occurred!
Guests were informed that great food choices needn’t be boring or restrictive! Everyone had the opportunity to taste a choc/caramel fudge ball made by Sandra Bottrell from RawLove Superfoods that has zero sugar yet still had the decadent taste of the finest chocolate… plus her superfood balls packed with nutrients that are easily digested, aesthetically appealing and great tasting – a treat kids will love! Sandra informed the group of how important it is to have raw ingredients included in our daily diet and proved that delicious easy food and drinks – can be fun and inviting for all ages. In fact, no one could get enough of her Green Smoothie!
Robert Bison discussed how Progurt initiates balance of gut flora – improving digestion and absorption as well as nutritional support to every living cell in your body. He also explained how Progurt contains multiple-strains of Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) & Bifido Bacteria of human origin, identical to those found in a healthy human gut. Gut microbial flora is species specific, in exactly the same way the mother’s milk is species specific. Human strains for humans…. More advanced. More effective. Adding probiotic Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) to your diet may help create an ideal environment for healthy digestion, in turn supporting the right environment in the gut that sends the right messages to the body for people suffering from Autism. The 2nd seminar will be held at Corrimal Community Centre from 630p on Tuesday June 5 2012.
