How toxins make you fat
Many of us find we seem to plateau when we are trying to lose weight. Everything goes really well for the first few weeks then no matter what we do no more weight seems to shift. Well, have you ever considered the role the toxins in your body may be playing in sabotaging your weight management goals? Toxins come not only from our external environment through the foods we eat, cosmetics we use, and air we breathe but can also be the by-product of our internal environment coping with everyday stress and trying to keep us well.
When toxins enter our systems they latch onto fat cells for safe keeping and in doing so cause the continual release of leptin, the hormone responsible for telling the brain to burn stored fat for energy. Because an overload of leptin is released leptin receptors in the brain burn out and the message never gets through. You are leptin resistant and this is BAD NEWS FOR WEIGHT MANAGEMENT! As toxins are stored in white adipose tissue toxic overload can contribute to many extra pounds of fat and weight gain every year. The toxins are stuffed into fat cells to stop then from harming body processes and when you hit the toxic layer of fat during weight loss the body hits a toxic wall.
Also when we go on a diet some of the toxins that have accumulated in our stored fat are released into our bloodstream. These toxins not only depress thyroid function (which we know is no good for weight management), they also interrupt metabolic function, reducing metabolism, another big NONO for weight management. You may even find you put on some weight as your body holds onto fluids trying to dilute the toxins. You feel pretty bad due to toxic substances flowing around your body and may start to eat that little bit extra to compensate..this may make you feel better as the toxins are stuffed back into added fat cells but not for long when you realise you are putting weight back on. Some people may be so choked up with toxic fat that weight loss is just not possible and for these people a programmed detox regime is essential before commencing on a successful weight management program …Interesting to think those extra pounds may be harbouring lots of harmful toxins…and even more reason to lose the extra weight.
Toxins = fat cells = leptin overproduction = fat storage = more toxin storage = toxic wall = no weight loss
weight loss = fat cell breakdown = toxins in blood stream = thyroid function depressed + slowed metabolism + fluid retention = feeling bad = more eating = more toxins = more fat storage
