Creepy Chronic Disease
Chronic disease development is often slow and silent and then BAM! all of a sudden you’re obese with pre-diabetes and have cardiovascular problems – hence the title “creepy chronic disease”. No one likes to be snuck up on like that do they? It may take decades but if we don’t look after ourselves it will most likely happen. After all it only takes a couple of kilos, then a few more, then a bit/lot of stress, no exercise, and a few sleepless nights. Time goes fast and before you know it you’re sitting at the Naturopath asking for help (and we’re more than happy to of course).
So chronic diseases are the illnesses that are not contagious and don’t kill you outright, but linger on getting progressively worse over time. The good news is that the majority of them are preventable and at worst are manageable.
In order to manage your health in the long term so chronic disease doesn’t sneak up on you:
- Eat a variety of nutrient dense foods
- Move regularly i.e. get up and exercise every day
- Relax and have fun – stress severely impacts health
- Ensure you get enough restful sleep for you – wake up refreshed
- Ask for help – as awesome as it would be, we are not Superman or Wonder Woman (they are actually fictional characters!)
