Community Connect – Introducing Rick Hughes
Introducing our first speaker at our Community Connect Event on Monday 17th October: Rick Hughes
Rick is the owner of Energise Fitness & Energy Specialists; a business built by helping people achieve their health goals through exercise and nutrition. He is a former government operative within Special Operations, Counter Terrorism and after 10 years of service, Rick was formally diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and medically discharged in 2012.
Rick will be discussing some parts of his journey with PTSD, as well as how he uses exercise to treat and manage his symptoms. He has studied a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science at the University of Wollongong and now works with combat veterans, emergency services personnel and civilians alike, coordinating exercise programs through Energise Fitness, with an aim to provide a better quality of life and a way of diminishing symptoms of PTSD, anxiety and depression, using exercise as medicine.
