Causes of Autism
While many parents firmly believe that the cause of their child’s autism was a direct result of the immunisation program they were subjected too, recent research points to an underlying susceptibility in the child with the immunisations being one of many potential triggers.
It seems that in a subset of these children, this susceptibility may be due to autoimmune antibodies to the foetus produced by the mother. This leads to the child being born with a high inflammatory profile.
A further inflammatory event (like a virus or immunisation) potentially leads to a hyper-inflamed brain with consequent reduced neuronal integration and synapse function, resulting in the symptoms of Autism.
The focus of treatment is now shifting to assist the body in dealing with the underlying inflammation processes – putting the fire out in the brain. This allows then for normal repair process and the reestablishment of normal communication pathways and a movement towards normal function.
